About Home Assist Secure Funding
Home Assist Secure funding provides practical support for minor home maintenance, repairs, and modifications, including installing grab rails, fixing locks, or improving home security. It is designed for seniors and people with disabilities who cannot afford or manage these tasks on their own. It provides services to eligible consumers in the Fraser Coast Regional Council area (excluding Hervey Bay), Gympie Regional Council area, South Burnett Regional Council area, Biggenden, Gayndah and Mundubbera areas in the North Burnett Regional Council regions.
Services provided may include:
- Changing light bulbs
- Installing smoke alarms and replacing batteries
- Minor electrical services (light switches, power points, ceiling fan repairs/replacements)
- Minor plumbing services (tap washers, leaks and blocked drains)
- Repairs and replacement of hot water systems
- Appliance repairs (washing machines, fridges, air conditioners, ovens and stoves)
- Basic locksmith and glazing services
- Security work (key safes, sensor lights and security screens)
- Handyman and carpentry services
- Gutter cleans
- Yard tidy’s and rubbish removals
- Emergency mows
- Grab rails, handrails, hand-held showers, small ramps and chair and bed raiser.
Not included:
- Major renovations (bathroom remodels, flooring replacement)
- Routine home beautification work (painting, landscaping)


To qualify for HAS, you must be:
- Aged 60 years or older (or any age with a disability)
- Hold a Pensioner Concession Card
- Unable to complete home maintenance tasks independently.
- Unable to make use of alternative forms of assistance, such as Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS) or Veteran’s Home Care (VHC).
Applications are submitted directly through HAS providers.
